The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a new Request for Information (RFI) aimed at transforming how digital health tools serve Medicare beneficiaries. This initiative signals a continued push toward a more interoperable, patient-centered digital health infrastructure—one where seniors and caregivers can better manage chronic conditions, access care, and make informed health decisions through modern technology.
The RFI seeks stakeholder input on:
- Accelerating adoption of health management and care navigation apps
- Enhancing interoperability through open, standards-based technologies
- Removing barriers to data exchange
- Reducing administrative burden while advancing value-based care
Building on efforts like Blue Button 2.0 and the Interoperability and Patient Access Rule, CMS is doubling down on policies that make health information actionable, accessible, and secure. This is an opportunity for digital health innovators, providers, payers, and patient advocates to shape the next wave of infrastructure investment and policy reform.
